ABOUT CAM ATTREE - CAMERA AND CAMPING AUSTRALIA

Cam Attree is a professional photographer and videographer based in Brisbane, Australia. His introduction to photography and passion for the natural world came at an early age through his keen amateur photographer Don, who’s family slide shows helped train Cam’s photographic eye without him even realising it.

When he was 16 and still in high school, Don gifted Cam a second hand, fully manual SLR film camera and it wasn’t long before a darkroom was built underneath the family home and countless rolls of film and black-and-white prints were being produced.

After Cam finished high school, he completed an Associate Diploma of Arts in Applied Photography at Queensland College of Art where he received a solid grounding in all aspect of photography. Since then he has continued to develop his skills in photography, image editing and also added new skills in videography.

Cam’s passion for landscape and wildlife photography continued after graduating art college so he spent much of his weekend and holiday time camping and exploring to build up a respectable portfolio. In 1988 he entered the Australian Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. Much to his shock and surprise, he won! With the prize money, he booked a trip to every wildlife photographer’s dream location: Africa. A few years later, he ticked Antarctica off his travel bucket list and spent 3 weeks photographing seals, penguins and stunning landscapes.

In recent years Cam’s professional work has seen him spending most of his time shooting in the studio or locked inside in front of the computer editing but his love of the outdoors and camping has never subsided.

Feeling a strong desire to spend more time outdoors, Cam invested in some new camping gear, completed a fit out of his Mitsubishi Triton MQ and is actively setting aside more time to enjoy the stunning locations that Australia has to offer, documented his adventures and sharing them via his YouTube channel and through this website.
